NMN may reduce aging-related dysfunction

In May 2022, Deng Haiteng's research group from Tsinghua University published a paper in the top journal "Cells" again. They found that 4 weeks of NMN supplementation can improve the overall increase in protein acetylation caused by liver aging.

The researchers selected young mice (8 weeks old) and old mice (96 weeks old) for experiments, and injected NMN (500 mg/kg) or phosphate buffered saline (PBS, control ), continued for 4 weeks, and analyzed the biochemical indicators of mice in each group.

Through proteome analysis of aged mice and young mice, it was found that compared with young livers, 273 proteins were increased and 537 proteins were decreased in the livers of aged mice.

Most of these proteins are related to redox process, indicating that aging is destructive to redox homeostasis.
