Glutathione uses and dosages

Glutathione is an antioxidant, a molecule that fights free radicals.

Free radicals are unstable molecules that are produced in response to factors such as diet and environment. Oxidative damage to cells occurs when there are more free radicals than antioxidants. This can lead to inflammation and a host of health problems -- from high blood pressure and diabetes to Alzheimer's disease, to name a few.

Antioxidants are integral to maintaining a stable state of health in the body. Our body can produce some antioxidants on its own, but some antioxidants must be obtained from outside the body through diet or dietary supplements such as GSH.

In addition to being an antioxidant, GSH plays the following roles in our body:

1) Break down nutrients

2) Regulating the immune response

3) Metabolic toxins and carcinogens

4) Natural production and repair of DNA

5) Generate protein and prostaglandins

6) Enzyme activation

Other studies have shown that GSH can reverse aging, prevent cancer and maintain memory. It has certain effects on the prevention of many diseases, including: arteriosclerosis, Lyme disease, Alzheimer's disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, colitis , high cholesterol, osteoarthritis, asthma, cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease, hepatitis, liver disease, Parkinson's disease, alcohol use disorder.

There is currently insufficient scientific evidence to determine an appropriate dose of GSH. Various dosages have been studied for specific conditions, but the dosage for a particular person depends on several factors including age, sex, medical history, and more.

In some cases, doctors give glutathione intravenously to treat atherosclerosis, diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and side effects of chemotherapy. For some diseases, nebulized inhalation can also be used.

Glutathione dietary supplements and personal care products are sold in various channels of the market. Always consult your doctor before considering glutathione for a medical condition. For my own chronic disease, I can't decide on the treatment method by myself and delay the routine treatment to prevent serious consequences.
